In the movie, The Matrix, Morpheus gives Neo a one-time choice.
This is your last chance. After this there is no turning back. You take the blue pill: the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill: you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
Ok, so email marketing might not be quite so intense as life in the Matrix, but giving subscribers some degree of control could be a pretty powerful way to strengthen the relationship you have with them.
Lets say you’ve created a new sequence that delivers 30 days of valuable content to your subscribers.
You know your list will like it, but you don’t know whether daily or weekly emails will ultimately go down better with your list (and result in more sales for you).
So, rather than just flying blind, you decide to do an unusual split test…
You let your subscribers decide!
Here’s one way you could do it
1. Load the emails into TWO separate AWeber Campaigns, spacing the emails weekly in one, daily in the other and selecting “Tag Applied” as the trigger for both.
2. On the daily Campaign, set “daily” as the trigger tag and “weekly” as the except when tag. Do the reverse on the other campaign.
3. Finally, create two AWtomator Link events with campaign tagging, one which adds the Campaign tag “daily”, one which tags “weekly”, and then send an email to your list offering the choice.
If they click the “daily” link event, they will be tagged as such in Campaigns and the daily email sequence will start.
Likewise, if they click the “weekly” link event, they will be tagged as such in Campaigns and the weekly email sequence will start.
But because we set the “except when” tags, it will not be possible for the subscriber to accidentally join both the daily and weekly versions of the campaigns at the same time.
